Do all programs include a dinner the night before?

I was considering scheduling a cross country interview the Saturday after a shelf exam (deferred third year clerkship) which would mean getting there late at night. They didn't mention a dinner, but I'm assuming these are included at all programs and pretty important to go to and make a good impression at?

Thanks!

If they didn't mention dinner, most likely there is no dinner.

I don't think Yale mentioned their dinner until their confirmation email. I'll have to call I guess, thanks for the response though.

Not all anesthesia programs have dinner the night before...for example, UTMB-Galveston has no pre-interview dinner (though they do put you up in a hotel).

I went to one interview that had no dinner. I went to two others that had dinners the night after the interview. The rest were all night before dinners.

does columbia pay for hotel? i am still waiting to get confirmation from them.

thanks

columbia does not pay for hotel. I got my confirmation yesterday.

Yale most certianly has a dinner plus going out for drinks afterward. Its quite helpful for the aplicants to have a few beers with the residents because its good to see if you socialize well with your future colleagues, but also its an opportunity to get the real scoop on the program.

You should probably ask before you go to any interview if they have a dinner.
