for who went to wake forest, i don't have a licence, so can't drive. so whats the nearest airport CLT? RDU? GSO? or other? from where i can reach campus by taxi? or other cheaper routes? bus/shuttle from an airport?
help me get to my interview!

good luck getting there. Stay at the Hawthorne Inn. It's owned by the Baptist Hospital where you will be interviewing and they have a great shuttle service. Can't help with the airports, but RDU would be too far to take a cab.

greensboro is the closest airport and is about 20 miles away. i don't know if there are any hotels in winston-salem that have shuttle service to the airport or not. the wingate inn is a nice hotel if you don't stay at the Hawthorne inn. The Wingate Inn has shuttle to Wake's med school as well (a 5 min ride max), but I don't think they have a shuttle to the airport.

If the Wingate shuttles from the airport and to the Baptists Med. Center, take that deal. It'll save you some $80-100.

Contact the Admin office, I think they can put you in touch with a shuttle service from the hospital back to the airport. So, check out before the interview. Contact the hotel to find the best way to get there from the airport. They can probably refer you to a shuttle or at least give you the best options. Good luck at your interview.

I wish I could remember the hotel I stayed at when I interviewed at Wake. It was definitely one of the one's the med school recommended...and when I called to ask about a shuttle service they gave me the phone number of a guy that runs a taxi/shuttle in his spare time. (I can't believe I threw away the piece of paper I had with his name and number on it! I'll look again and see if it didn't get mixed in with something else) Anyway, this guy was really nice and at least $10 cheaper than a taxi from the airport. I think it was around $30 or so for a one way ride. Plus, he picked me up from the hotel and dropped me off at the front door of the med school for my interview (and picked me up right when it was over). Apparently he frequently drives people who interview there. Just call some of the hotels...I think a lot of them offer free or discounted shuttle services.

he's referring to my post about the Wingate Inn. They have a shuttle from the hotel to the med school, but I DON'T think they have a shuttle from the hotel to the airport.

Greensboro is definitely where you need to fly in to, try calling the hotels on the list Wake provides and see if any of them offer shuttle service to the airport.

Definitely going to have to reccommend the Hawthorn(e?) inn... great rate, great room, good food, very convenient to the medical center with the shuttle... great overall.

The Wingate Inn was wonderful. Free shuttle if you call ahead and tell them what time you need it. They dropped me off at the school, picked me up and took me to the airport. All Free shuttle service. Pretty amazing especially since the airport was 25 minutes away! The room was really nice too, thought I only was there for a few hours. Really nice continental breakfast as well.
