Disadvantage paragraph on application?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yes, I believe you are wrong. There is no "disadvantage paragraph", if you are disadvantaged as an applicant, it may be something worth writing about in your personal statement.

I thought there was some type of disadvantage paragraph on AADSAS? Am I wrong...

Are you talking about: Has your education ever been interrupted or affected adversely for reasons other than deficiencies in conduct or academic performance?

I think this is what you're looking for..maybe.. 😉

Where is that paragraph on the application..I can't find it either...

this is exactly what the personal statement is for! tell them why you and not the next guy.

it's in the little box under the "have you ever been convicted of cheating?" and "have you committed a felony?" questions

For the box that says, "Has your education ever been interrupted or affected adversely for reasons other than deficiencies in conduct or academic performance?"

I took a quarter off to have arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder, but took summer school afterwards. Should I mention this in this box or on the personal statement. Or should I not even mention it all?

I dont know, but IMO i think it is intended for people that have hardship withdraws due to sickness and/or to explain why someone may have taken a huge break in college (i.e. someone who has worked and wants to change professions) It seems like it's there to explain a situation that might otherwise appear negative to your application.

I called and asked AADSAS a similar question b/c I took off a semester to travel to Fiji, Australia & Indonesia and they said NOT to include it. If you read the question carefully, it doesn't sound like your education was adversely affected by your surgery leave. If you're concerned about it, call AADSAS. Hope this helps.
