OK, so growing up my family owned a struggling small business where my parents annual take home was usually less than $10,000 K combined for any given year. No medical/dental for me or my sister. They eventually filed for bankruptcy. Growing up in a rural community our house was... not structurally sound by conventional standards. It had a dirt floor in certain rooms of the house and had no central heat until I was 15, so that meant cutting wood every single stinking Saturday so we could keep our house warm in the winter. Anyway, Dad started drinking when I was in high school so I moved out and went to live with relatives and worked my way through a private catholic high school, so I had a legal guardian by the time I graduated.
Anyway, now I am 37 years old. I put my self through college and joined the military. Does any of this actually matter now? If so, how do I write this up so it sounds professional and not like I am whining about how hard I had it growing up.
