Hello, guys. I am going to apply upcoming cycle to MD programs. I will have LizzyM score between 67~71 depending on how my MCAT goes. I have learned from this site that URM and military veterans getasignificant boost. I am very low income and DACA. Would this disadvantaged status give me a similar boost towards my application? If so, would it be similar to being an URM? It would be helpful if admission committee can answer this (@Goro , @gyngyn, @GrapesofRath ) Thank you!

Maybe so, maybe not. If you simply put disadvantaged on your app, it's probably not going to really help. If you show how you've overcome your challenges and how it helps you as a physician, in your essays and interviews, it will help. But that all depends on how smartly you present yourself. It's going to add some context to your app, but it's not going to get you in by itself.

Everyone loves a come-from-behind story. It's in our DNA.
