Hi everyone!

So on AMCAS, I didn't select myself as disadvantaged, because I'm really not. But I did have some % need-based scholarship for college. To enter that section, though, I have to call myself disadvantaged, which is pretty misleading. Did anyone run into this problem? Is it best to just not put the need-based scholarship down?

Thanks!

i ran into the same thing last year. i ultimately decided to leave it out even though at the time of h.s. and college i definitely qualifed as "disadvantaged". for me, i chose to work some of this into my personal statement as those experiences shaped who i am today. i personally think it's a fine line. i didn't think it was fair for me to claim disadvantaged status since that's not where i am today. also, when i did undergrad, i had plenty of friends that received need based aid but nowhere near qualified as disadvantaged. it's definitely up to you, i'm just sharing what i did for mine. good luck.

Doesn't like 50++% of all college student get some need based aid?

I wouldn't put it down unless it was for the whole amount and unless you got it you couldn't go. My 2 cents...

Yeah, makes sense - I agree. Thanks for your help!
