Long time reader, felt I needed to register to ask this question:

are those of you who are not classifying yourself as "disadvantaged" filling out the rest of that section? (describing your home town, how you paid for college, parents income, students eligible for free lunches) only a few of the questions in there are required and I'm not sure if I should push on and fill out the entire section or be a little more selective about the information I give out. Any thoughts?

Thanks for all the contributions, everyone!

bump. I have the same question. I filled the section out but I'm not sure if I should have (i'm not disadvantaged).

I vote skip. They all have to do with the original question that you said no to. Seems like clutter on your app.

Agreed. If you're not applying as disadvantage then I wouldn't fill that part out. I didn't.

I struggled with this decision too. I am from a small KY town that was medically/dentally underserved. We are ranked VERY low in education... I consider that to be a huge disadvantage.. However, my parents did what they could to make a good life for my brother and I. We were def not rich but not completely poor either. Because of that I chose to skip the question. Yes the area is enough to make me lean towards disadvantaged status, but at the same time I do not want to come across and "reaching for a competitive edge" if that makes sense?

Still a bit confused here. For those that selected no to the initial question, did you also choose to skip the sections below (Childhood Residence, US Specific Information, and Economic Funding Sources)? As far as I know, it will not let you skip the first question of Childhood Residence. Did you only fill that one in and skip the rest? TIA

I'm confused by this too. One of the schools I'm applying to requires everyone to fill out the Disadvantaged Status section. I'm not sure exactly what to put for some of the questions though

I filled in No for disadvantage status but still answered bottom part.
The instruction says it is an optional, so if you wanna do it, then do it. If not, don't fill it.
I don't think it matters as long as you don't lie on any of the questions.

What did you put for Description under Childhood Residence?
