I recently went to a conference at UCSF for dental school (predental hopeful) and they told me that by 2012 they will switch the NDBE to pass or no pass. I don't know how likely the ADA will do this, but I wanted to know if this is true and how would that affect residency programs to schools like UCSF or UCLA, which have been historically a P/NP schools.
I've also heard that the NDBE part 1 was never meant to be an indicator of a student's success in a residency program, even though it's been used as such. I'll be applying to dental school this upcoming cycle and I'm wondering if I should take this into consideration when I apply?
This is really important to me because If I do decide to specialize, I don't know how this will affect me if I were able and chose to go to a P/NP school. This type of switch will make me think more about ranked schools if it was the case. But state schools are so much cheaper compared to private...
P.S. I did search this, I came across old threads that didn't help much.
