discussion on nbme answers! can i?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i did nbme 4 today and im unsure about a few answers. can i post some questions here to get some explanations?

It is against the rules of the forum. Doesn't mean you can't. I think the appropriate thing to do is ask about certain topics but don't reproduce the questions from memory.

-metastasis from a carcinoid tumor to liver ... is it through seeding or blood?

-compensation for hemorrhage ... increase ANF or shift of fluid to vascular compartment and why?

-amino acids in transmembrane portion of a signal sequence? should they be hydrophobic?

-twiching of foot and seizure ... which part of brain responsible? where can i find info regarding various seizures and which part of the brain they are coming from/

thanks 🙂

i know this sounds scary, but open up your neuro text book real quick and read the section on seizures. i was confused lik hell until i did this...my text had a whopping 3 pages on it (which doesnt take long) and helped me answer several questions on the subject.

while ur at it, be able to differentiate the different types of headaches...

i dont have a neuro text book but ive got the high yield ... is it there? i did the kaplan and FA for neuro but it's not there. so anywhere else i can find those info?

well, i dont think its in high yield (i read that one too). wikipedia has info on it but its not as well written i felt, but you can certainly glean what you need from it. for the headaches (tension, migraine, etc) i used wikipedia for it and even a quick skim helped me answer a bunch of questions. when reading these explanations, focus on figuring out how to differentiate btw the different types bc that is exactly what the NBME's and real deal will ask you to do. let me know if you have any other questions!

Essential Neuroscience by Allan Siegel and Hreday N Sapru i used this since someone had just given it to me for free. dont know if any school even uses it, but it had a couple pages on seizures that i found helpful. i am sure that any real source (which excludes high yield) would have good info on it. please don't try to delve into too much detail into something like this...i only used the usual review sources which the occasional lookup in one of the texts when I knew that I totally missed something that wasnt in the review books...

actually my school online bookstore has a lot of book and thats what i was referring to...sorry for the confusion
