Where can I find decent info on what can be used against bacteria or viruses for disinfection?

Katzung has a great section on disinfectants and antiseptics in the Misc Antimicrobial Agents chapter. I'd recommend the Katzung Review book over the full text, as it condenses the info to 1.5 pages.

Or that endotoxin, as well as other heat-stabile molecules such as prions, is resistance to autoclaving and instead the surface must be scrubbed vigorously.

Usually the answer is wash your hands if that's an option.

I wish 🙂

I had a question that there was GI infection on cruise ship, and they asked how would you disinfect everything before another trip. The answers were alcohol, phenol, UV, aldehyde and sodium hypochlorite.
Since it was Norwak infection, virus of which is naked, the most appropriate was using of sodium hypochlorite or bleach.
If it was enveloped virus, then you would use alcohol or phenol and ect.

I mean they can get that detailed I guess.

But if you run into a guy with Coxsackie A infection of his hands and mouth then tell him to wash his hands... :luck:
