Has any one of you guys tried to dissect the liver - i.e. expose the major cardiovascular, lymphatic, and neural branches, and if so how long did it take you, and what were some things you needed to be specially careful about? By sheer luck I roughly managed to dig a tunnel from the entrance of the hepatic artery to one of its arteriole on the right lobe, but I know it's going to take me forever to get rid of the excess tissue surrounding the vessels. What would you recommend? 😕

don't bother. it's not worth it.

You're doing this to learn, not to make a display. If you understand the anatomy thats all that matters. If cutting out the extra tissue is going to make you visualise the vascular tree better and help you remember it then by all means.

I did prosections for the anatomy lab this past summer, had to get rid of all the mesentary while preserving the GI vasculature down to the arcades and vasa recta, and then paint all of them w red and blue paint. That was a pain. 😱 Took forever too.
