Have to do some minor editing before binding, but it was accepted on Monday at my defense.

End of internship is techinically on 16OCT. But nothing can stop me from using my PhD for evil now!!

Congrats!!

Did you extend your internship placement, as Oct 16th is an odd termination date.

No. At the end of our fourth year, we go to Officer Basic Course in the summer and do not actually start internship until October. I have actually been on active duty since 27JUN08, but the acacemic internship doesn't begin until you back from OBC.

Congratulations! I'm jealous. I hope to defend next summer or early fall 2010. Good job!

Congrats! What a huge accomplishment! I am still struggling to figure out exactly what I want to do my dissertation on...

Reviving an old thread. I have waited 7+ years to post this:

Phinally PhinisheD! Defended my dissertation and left the building with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.

WOW! What a feeling! Childish as this may be...I agree that one important developmental milestone is being able to achieve humor towards the self and other (Kohut, 1971, The Analysis of the Self). Kohut may be 'old school,' but he is often spot on ~ even in 2015. So...

Thank you, SDN and every one of you, for accompanying me on this journey.

It's Dr. CheetahGirl, now. 😎

Congratulations and celebrate your success Dr. Cheetah. You have earned it. I also love the fact that you cite one of my favorite theorists, but that might just be my own narcissist needs Enjoy the celebration and cherish the moment, the memory of this feeling of success and accomplishment will help sustain you as you keep heading towards licensure and career!

Congratulations, Dr. CheetahGirl. Hope you are having a big celebration with your family! :claps::claps::claps:

Thank you!

Thank you! (Kohut's my favorite theorist, too...so we can be mutual narcissists...but the healthy kind. 😉)

Congrats Cheetah! Must be such a great feeling...
Thank you! You know this feeling, Ollie123! And I appreciate our discussions over the years. I find challenging each other is always useful, if it's not just for the sake of argument (which it never seems like it is with some of us). And I think you're smart, so that's just some secondary gain in discussing stuff with you (the lasting effects of a free tutorial..ha!)

So it seems like... :hijacked:

I was so happy when 73BARMYPgsp posted his defense success here, and I enjoyed his posts when he frequented this site (this was waaayyy before the 'Like" function on SDN). I propose that anyone out there revive this thread when they want to share their news. We can keep this thread going for the next 7+ years!

I really do feel like I've walked through a door, and it's an amazing feeling on the other side. (Woke up in a panic the other night with the feeling that something was due, but alas...all deadlines have been met.)

Season's greetings, folks!

Congratulations! When all the celebrating is said and done what is next for you professionally?

Hi Spydra,

Thank you!

I'm working a part-time position as a clinical research psychologist until I (hopefully) land a postdoctoral VA fellowship. I've also started amassing study materials for EPPP.

So really just working on getting licensed and a permanent job. :penguin:

Oh I've heard working for the VA is great experience. Good luck with the EPPP! A number of my colleagues are studying for it now and they're a bit crosseyed with all the study materials lol.

Congrats!!! It really is an amazing feeling when you defend your dissertation.
