1) Liza and Tamar leave the same camp and run in opposite directions.
Liza runs 2m/s and Tamar runs 3m/s. How far apart are they after 1 hour?

2)Bus A has to travel 18 miles to school and makes 12 stops along the way. The stops are equal to distance from eachother.
a)How far apart are the stops to the nearest tenth of a mile?

b)Bus A travels at an average speed of 30 mph. How longto the nearest minute does it take to go from one stop to the next?

c)When bus A picks up the students at the 4th bus stop, how far away from achool is it to the nearest mile?

1) 1800m

2) a. 1.5 miles
b. .75 minutes
c. 12 miles

for #1 what did you do after you converted both rates to m/hr?

2m/s x 60s/1min x 60min/1hr = 7200m in one hour

3m/s x 60s/1min x 60min/1hr = 10800m in one hour

Those are the distances that both of them traveled from start so since they went in opposite directions you add them together.

7200 + 10800= 18000m I know I had 1800 before but its supposed to be 18000 what is the right answer?
