Hey,

Do heme/onc specialists do either 100 % oncology or hematology or is it a mix?

Does 100 % heme involve more procedures (--> $$$) than oncology? What's the disparity in compensation for a given amount of workhours a week?

Most people who do 100% one or the other are in academics and subsequently make much less than they could doing both in PP. Also, outside of GI and Cards, and maybe Pulm (in IM at least), procedures are those stupid things that take up too much time in your day and make it so you can't see more patients and make more money.

About the only procedure you're going to do in Hem/Onc anyway is a bone marrow biopsy. In the time it takes me to do one of these (including consent, prep, procedure and cleanup), I could see 3 or 4 follow ups which pay me way more than that 1 marrow does.
