I was given the 2009 DIT videos on a dvd as well as the book that follows along with it on pdf. Obviously, this saves me a lot of money vs paying for the newest, 2011 DIT program. Does anyone see any major drawbacks for using a 2009 DIT video set for a 2011 Step I exam? I understand there are some changes from the FA 2009 book to the 2011, but would it be significant enough to make that big of a difference?

it is illegal springs to mind...

lol at this point doesn't matter...just give the person the damn advice they are asking for 😛

Ive noticed the people that lack resources tend to say the "illegal" bs...

anywayz Im sure its okay to use whatever version you have along with whatever FA. Shouldn't be a huge deal. But just make sure you have FA 2011.

any chance you'd be willing to email that pdf or point me to it online? i've got the videos but not of the supplemental handouts/quizzes

thanks

Come on guys, seriously? We can't complain about all these medicare cuts and people not paying us for the services we provide (after a bajillion years of schooling) if we are going to this type of crap.

PAY FOR THE PROGRAM. They are a business. It costs them money to make their product.

Blurg.

I think everyones too preoccupied with their future $150,000+ med school debt to care.

And we're not doctors yet. We see zero of those payments.

Because we're in debt we have the right to steal? Not a good argument.

My argument was that you, and most med students, aren't happy about their FUTURE salaries being cut because people don't appreciate the services we offer.

Anyways, we can say whatever we want. Bottom line, its stealing. Don't do it.

its DIT's own fault for making their videos easy to steal.

do you see anyone trying to steal USMLEworld? enough said.

I think it's great that you feel this way. Then you don't steal. But it sure as hell wouldn't stop anyone else from not doing it.

Offline copies of uworld are definitely online, i have seen as recent as 2010. So i really dont think ease of theft is a good argument.

DIT 2011 is worth getting. It is much cheaper then the kaplan course. This is a very important exam, and we shouldn't try and be cheap about it. The only way for the companies to being out better and better products each year is by having people actually pay them for there services.

So i have seen the 2009 videos and am currently doing the 2011 program (legitimately). They have some new lecturers who cover certain sections, and they seem to add a bit more then Dr. Jenkins would. The course book is nicely organized and would make for a solid resource in the last few days of studying. They have added some skits called right brain bonus, which is an entertaining break, that also helps you remember mnemonics. Overall, the program over the years isnt hugely different, but just as it was worth it for us to get the newest firstaid, it seems worth it to get the newest DIT program.

Of course the choice is yours on how to precede, but i dont think skimping on resources is a good idea in the long run.

Wow that was annoying to watch!! the Falcon FA review video!! I guess its just because I am so use to DIT and him going through things...I felt like this guy was talking super slow...it would take like years to go through FA with Falcon videos. But you know I cant really say because I didn't purchase it I just saw the sample video for Falcon!

But I am doing DIT. I am almost done with it and am going to go through it one more time, take an NBME and then go for my exam!!! ill tell you guys how it went!!
