Are the vids for DIT 2012 completely redone for the most part or are they redubbed like 2011? do they give you the option of increased speed playback?

Thanks in advance for the responses.👍

**There was a thread on this from Nov 2011 but no one really answered b/c I guess no one was studying for step 1 back then.

I never saw the 2011 videos, so I can't directly compare them. I think that some of the videos are reused from last year, because there are parts where he'll say "If you're following along in the 2011 edition of First Aid, this is on page 112" or whatever, and then the bottom of the screen shows page numbers from 2011 and 2012, so I assume that those are old reused videos. There are also ones where he mentions 2012 specifically, and I haven't noticed any dubbing with those. You can play the videos in 1x or 1.5x.

They redid all of them....he references 2011 and 2012 because feedback from students was to include the two most recent versions because alot of students already had notes in their edition prior to the new one coming out and didn't want to buy new editions. I've seen both, and they are pretty different in terms of makeup maybe not so much in content.

they dont fix the errata in FA though. so for example right now in the renal video he says mebranous glomerulonephritis is most common cause of nepropathy when in fact its focal segmental as stated in the errata for FA. so basically they just read FA to you without any thought. it becomes more apparent as you go through the course. but i would still probably go back and do it again since its still more interesting than kaplan, etc..

if all DIT does is read from the First aid book ... the Kaplan High Yield series may be better. Most of the lecturers do a great job of high lighting the more important points and also cluing the listeners in towards typical ways the USLME may present the fact learned

That's not all they do. Coming from somebody who did both programs, I think it was worthwhile to do both programs. But if you have to choose only 1, DIT was definitely better at preparing me for a higher score. The Kaplan program was better at establishing fundamentals, and if I was starting over, I'd use the Kaplan HY program to guide me through my first pass of FA.

To answer the OP's question, DIT 2012 was a big improvement over 2011. They changed a lot of things and did a lot more explaining than in 2011.

To answer somebody else's question, DIT doesn't just "read out of FA."

I think that depends. Pathoma lists Membranous as MC in caucasians and FCGS in African Americans and Hispanics. Also in the end of session quiz Dr. Lewis says Focal Segmental is most common in adults.

Guys I appreciate your feedback. I was wondering the benefit of putting down $800 for 2012 and it seems to be worth it.👍

Dude are you a DIT salesperson or something? Every post from you is DIT is the best.

DIT sucks. They just read FA to you. You think you're learning when you're listening to it, but it's all gone with the wind in about 3 days. If I had depended on DIT, I would have been crushed on the Step 1. How did your Step 1 turn out anyway?

People are better off spending that $800 for a vacation to Costa Rica over winter break.

DIT is okay. The real benefit comes from doing the packets/worksheets and they do add some HY points. Its personal preference, works for some people and doesn't for others. Its a good way to force yourself to get through FA. Just my opinion.

+1 to this. It is a very expensive and time consuming way of getting through FA. There is very little teaching involved.

Guys I dont want to create a new thread so I'm just going to bump this one. I know that they totally revamped DIT for 2012, but has it been for better or worse? What are the differences, any help would be appreciated.

membranous glomerulonephritis is the most common type according to USMLE World. Focal Segmental is the next common.

The only value in DIT is their worksheet. They have some REALLY high yield stuff in there. I mean stuff that shows up on your actual exam.

Watching the videos however is a waste of time. I wish I hadn't done it. If I could get a redo, I'd skip the lectures, read FA on my own and then go through their worksheets
