So I purchased the advising and study plan and was a little skeptical. I figured how much could it really help. Probably just another gimmick to get money. Well I was WRONG.

I just got e-mailed a complete detailed study plan for the last month before I take my test. It has me scheduled right down to lunch and dinner breaks. I was pretty impressed with the advice and amount of work that went into putting this together.

I would definately recommend this if you are the type of person that needs some structure. Even if you don't need structure this plan couldn't hurt. Money well spent.

I did not purchase it. Got it from a friend. Would you mind sharing your study plan?

I'm really impressed with DIT's ability to make money.

I just looked this up and they charge anywhere from $50-70 to set up a schedule, and $20 for advising sessions. Their online coures is $800 for single month access to videos. They certainly know how to make money, and from what I can tell, it's basically all stuff that could be done on your own but they just make it more convenient (i.e. guiding you through first aid or making a study plan). Brilliant business model, they really haven't created anything, just organized other people's stuff and sold it.

I'm not criticizing, as I understand there is a market for it. I'm actually am impressed, although I don't think I will end up buying any of their products.

To the bolded, it's pretty simple actually. They work really hard on a few plans (small variance depending on some survey they ask you, I'm sure) then sell them to everyone. No different than their videos, work hard to create one product then sell it to everyone.

I'll let you all know after I get my score. And yea it is convenient. I'd rather pay to get structure that I know has worked for many people than to chance doing it on my own. Many people have done it on there own and thats great but I personally wouldn't trust myself to do it on my own. It's just a matter of preference. If you can have the extra help available to you then why not.

Everyone I have talked to who has done DIT said it didnt hurt them to take it. Some say it helped, some say they already knew all that stuff, but no one has said it made their score worse.

I sure hope it hasn't made anyone do worse. 🙂

Like I said, I know the market exists and have no problem with it. It seems that the market is increasing and more and more high $ services will become available for step 1.

I definitely think that DIT is really good at making money. With all of the marketing mumbo-jumbo I've seen, I was reluctant to sign up because it seemed like they were trying too hard to sell a product.

That said, I'm glad I did. It may seem like a bit of a gimmick, but there's no question that it's raised my score.

whether or not DIT is really "worth it" or not, it all comes down to the individual level. We are all guilty of paying extra for the sake of convenience for something. We could do whatever that convenience is ourselves, but we don't.

The best idea (most profitable) is usually not something new, but its making something old even better or more convenient for others.

If it helps you score higher on the exam then clearly it had value and was worth it, and if not...well fight like hell for a refund ASAP.
