Written below are summaries I have made for divergent, parallel, and convergent evolution. Are these correct?
divergent evolution aka as adaptive radiation, this is the evolution of dissimilar characterics in once related species (similar ancestry) due to different enviromental stresses.
* example: the emergence of 13 different types of finch birds that Darwin saw on one island
parallel evolution the evolution of similar characterics in once related species (similar ancestry) due to similar enviromental stresses.
* example: a placental wolf and a pouched wolf both developed parallel due to similar similar enviroment stresses
convergent evolution the evolution of similar characteristics in unrelated species due to similar environmental stresses
* example: the thorns on a rose and the spines on a cactus
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
