Do faculty/adcoms remember you from what you say on your applications? I've been emphasizing a specific interest in both my PS and secondaries, and it's one of the central themes in my application. Let's say I do a complete 180 on those interests once I get into medical school after realizing it's not what I wanted and pursue something else (in terms of what I go on to research and the faculty I try to network with); will faculty be supportive? Will they even pay attention to what I say I'm interested in my interviews, secondaries, etc prior to admittance?

No, we don't remember. We're not omnipotent.

Please give us enough credit that we understand people's interests change in four years.

Do you really think that the Faculty would say to you "Avicenna, you wrote here that you wanted to do X, but now you're applying to Y residency program. We're going to dismiss you!"

???????

It's fair game to ask you about your interests at interviews, especially if you've written about them. But after that? Forget about it!
