I know, I know, everyone has asked questions about this and how can a stranger on the internet help, etc. I really just need a sound board and nobody I ask is giving me any useful advice haha. So, to be cliche and ask...

I'm an Asian-Indian woman who grew up in an area with that was almost ~75% Asian with two software engineer parents. Pretty not-different-from-anyone-else-I-know. So...this is a difficult question. Asians aren't a underrepresented minority, so really that does not help. BUT here's what I want to write about:

Having been truly half Indian and half American, culturally, I can see how the two viewpoints often need to be bridged together. Seeing how women are often treated differently than men in both cultures drove me to start a class on my college campus that discusses various women's issues and how they are culturally significant/driven but also important here. Teaching the class put me in contact with people of so many different academic, ethnic, religious backgrounds that I got to see their view of the issues, and how it differed from mine. And I think this is really important for medicine, to understand each individual's background and how it colors their interpretation of medical advice, and to be able to integrate that into their overall diagnosis/treatment/etc.

Good or no good?

Thanks! I suppose I should edit this and mention that the question is really asking

"The Committee on Admissions strongly encourages you to share unique, personally important, and/or challenging factors in your background, such as the quality of your early educational environment, socioeconomic status, culture, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and life or work experiences. Please discuss how such factors have influenced your goals and preparation for a career in medicine."

But I think it works?
