Hey neeky,
I just got back from my UCONN interview. I love that school. The possibility of a DMD/PhD was brought to my attention by one of my interviewers. What they stated was that the program is at least a 6 year program and you begin the PhD aspect of it your 3rd year. To get accepted to the program you must get accepted to the Dental school which you have, as well as to the graduate school. It sounds like a great program and I would love to get into it. I have a couple of questions to ask you, if you don't mind. On this forum people were telling me how intensive the interviews are, but I really didn't think it was that intensive. There was small talk and a couple of personality questions and talk about my research, but nothing else not even why dentistry? I did tell them that i wanted to get a PhD in my specialty training and then one of my interviewers made a really uncalled comment. He was telling me that I would be in school for a really long time and that I will probable marry a rich guy that will pay for all of my loans. I just kept smiling as he was talking, but I thought that that was uncalled for. If you are female, and I apologize if you are not, did you have any similar experiences with them? When you interviewed how long did they take to get back to you with an acceptance? It kind of freaked me out when the dean stated that about 89%of the class is already full! And also how much do you think research plays an emphasis on one getting accepted to the school? Sorry for the bombardment of questions but your replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! 🙄
