I have now had three patients come to the office with yellow postcards saying that they are "pre approved for a back brace" or something similar to that language. It says it is from "The Pain Center." It clearly looks like a fishing expedition, all of the patients have all been Medicare patients. Has anyone else run into this scam?

I am mad because the patients all start off by saying "I got your postcard that you mailed me..."

i see them a lot. its a scam, and i tell them that. they are hoping that docs just sign it without reading the script (as im sure a lot of surgeons would do). there is a special place in hell reserved for these scum that prey on the elderly.

yup I get them as well, had my office fax back a nasty note and they continue sending them.
