DMU:

Pros

New city (currently live in Indy), albeit small, but I really liked it upon visiting

Highest board scores among DO schools

New building/facilities

Original 5 and highly established; had a seemingly more impressive match list (I am interested in radiology/cardiology), so I think this is somewhat important for me

H/HP/P/F

Cons

Uncertainty for clinical rotations 3rd/4th year. It's a lottery system and I am not guaranteed a year-long site. Additionally, I have heard that even if you get one of the year-long placements, you may still have to move around for a few rotations. Not sure of the quality of rotations either, so if any current or former DMU students could provide insight that would be greatly appreciated.

Less opportunity for research.

Marian:

Pros

Indianapolis has ample research opportunities. I am currently doing research through IUSM right now and could continue this if I attend Marian. I am also very confident that I could do pretty much any research I wanted through IUSM in the future.

No lottery system for core rotations. All core rotations are within 65 miles of the city and Marian would cover any costs for a core rotation outside of that range. Additionally, I know there are so many hospitals in and around Indianapolis, so I am confident I wouldn't have to move around 4th year if I don't want to.

Faculty seems very supportive and they match you with a physician mentor which seems pretty cool. Not sure if this is the norm at other schools.

Cons

Board scores have dipped in recent years.

A/B/C/F

Not super excited about the prospect of staying in Indianapolis for another 4 years. Want to explore a new city.

I am honestly having a hard time justifying DMU over MU given my pros and cons lists, but I still find myself wanting to go to DMU because it's a new city and experience. I also really liked Marian, it's just more of the same old and that just excites me a little less. It's really hard to pass up all of the opportunities that living in Indianapolis would offer me though.

I would appreciate any insights!

I personally wouldn’t let board scores be much of a factor. Does either have mandatory class?

Neither has mandatory lectures, no.
Then go where you'll be happy. Board scores come down to how hard you grind anki and uworld.

There's no right answer here. If you want a new city go to a new city. But honestly.... you'll just be studying all the time anyway. so maybe optimize for career.

No right answer. Given your pros/cons I'd go with Marian but I am just one voice
