Two diff DNA
DNA1 = greater proportion of A-T bonds than G-C bonds
DNA 2 = greater proportion of G-C bonds than A-T bonds

answer = DNA #2 will be more stable.

my question = I thought A-T bonds 60%(30%-30%) and G-C bonds are 40%(20%20%) so shouldn't DNA #1 be more stable?

Barron page 311, #35
During transcription

answer = information from nucleic acids is moved to proteins

my question= i thought info from nucliec acids is moved to mRNA during transcription and it moves to proteins(amino acids) during translation?

1.DNA 2 will be more stable because it Guanine and Cytosine have three hydrogen bonds between them as opposed to Adenine and thymine which have 2 hydrogen bonds.

2.Transcription: DNA-> mRNA
Translation: mRNA->amino acid chain

Aha~ so it was basically asking for hydrogen bonds between them :idea:

and so...the answer for my second question is wrong? :idea:

Yes, I 2nd what Notoriousjae said. Always remember that G-C have three bonds between them as opposed to the 2 that a-t have between them! This makes them more stable and held tighter together.

I call dibs on 7th... just for all of you out there that were thinking about it. GOT IT!

After thinking about this long and hard, I am dissapointed to inform you that I no longer 2nd it. I feel out of place when others agree with me, so I will withdraw from this thread. Please note, you are all out of order now and must re(#) yourselves so as to not look foolish to your fellow SDNers.
