Please help clarify....

Kaplan...one of the problems says after 3 rounds of replication...you'll end up with 12.5% of the orinal DNA..bcuz after first round you'll get 50%, and 25% after second round and 12.5% after the third round.

Destroyer#237....says after 4 rounds of replication you'll end up with 12.5% of the original strand.....2/16=.125

Which one is right?

I tried wikipedia....no luck...

the kaplan and destroyer questions are both correct, though the kaplan question is not worded clearly. the kaplan is trying to ask how much original DNA is found in the third round only i think. the destroyer question is saying that after 4 rounds, how much DNA is of the original strand of DNA from all the strands including the first stand used for replication. so the kaplan question disregds tarhe first strand and refers to only the third round of replication. hope that helps.

yeah...this is the only way it works...although u wouldn;t be sure what way they'll put it in original DAT

Kaplan is just asking about the half DNA strands from the original. This means the third step is before anneling. Destroyer is asking for the number AFTER annelling. Same question, two answers.

I know the answer to that, after each round of replication the original DNA material gets halved. after 4 rounds of origina DNA will be= (1/2) to the power 4= 1/8= 6.25% so afte. so you go 100%-> 50%-> 25%-> 12.5%-> 6.25%.

both questions are asking the same thing but stick with destroyer if u had a question it is a better book for the dats.
