I know the correct answer but I am confused as to why is A incorrect...

Purine = G,A
Pyrimidine = T,C

purines bp with pyrimidines and vice versa. but be aware that even if it says purine-pyrimidine, it would be incorrect because you can get G-T's and whatever~
