DNR and intubation

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
DNR and DNI orders are separate. A DNI order prevents intubation for anything but temporary measures, such as someone going in for surgery that will be extubated afterward, but even that should be clarified prior to operating. A DNR order by itself does not prevent intubation at all, so long as the patient has a pulse.

If a patient is DNR only, then we can't intubate if intubation is part of the resuscitative protocol. Is this right??
