Do AdCom go through in order?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if they AdCom review applications in order of completion? If other people who were complete after me have been given II and I haven't heard anything, is that a bad thing?
Depends on how bad their software is.

Also depends on the school. There are some schools that will put you "on hold," either officially (telling you that you're on hold) or unofficially, while they interview other candidates and they may invite you later.

One day i'm gonna get myself into serving on the adcom and find out how it works exactly....

Western MIchigan University? They don't even have students yet haha

If you had the first app in but a 2.0 GPA, you are not getting the first interview.

If the school pre-screens, the those that make the first cut go in a pile. The Admissions dean and his/her minions then see who's got the things in the apps that are closest to the school's mission, the dean's heart, etc.

Those people get the first crack at admissions.

In many posts I see people complain "I was complete in July, but no interview" (when it's January). Those people made the first cut, but aren't up to speed as to what the schools wants to interview.

Purely anecdotally, it seems at least some schools sort incoming apps by numbers, with higher number applicants getting looked over first.

FYI, a friend served on University of Texas-- San Antonio adcom while a student. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience to boot.
