All of this being said, don't feel pressured to increase a word count for the sake of the word count. Say what's important and use the word count to guide how much detail you can go into. It's obvious to a reader if the writer is just adding things to make any essay longer- if you feel yourself doing this, think about how you can make the essay more comprehensive by broadening the scope (adding main points) or deeper by providing additional reflections and examples regarding pre-existing main points. Every sentence should serve a purpose. I usually aim to fill 80-100% of the word count. Best of luck!
