I'm doing secondaries, and I realized that everyone is probably writing just as much, if not more than me. Do Adcoms actually read all of our essays in their entirety?

Appreciate the input from a medical student. I wonder if an adcom can provide input as well?

Thank you, this helps relieve some application anxiety.

All of this being said, don't feel pressured to increase a word count for the sake of the word count. Say what's important and use the word count to guide how much detail you can go into. It's obvious to a reader if the writer is just adding things to make any essay longer- if you feel yourself doing this, think about how you can make the essay more comprehensive by broadening the scope (adding main points) or deeper by providing additional reflections and examples regarding pre-existing main points. Every sentence should serve a purpose. I usually aim to fill 80-100% of the word count. Best of luck!

For secondaries, I definitely did not fill the word count for many of them. Don’t add fluff just to make the word count.
