I recently have been getting several calls from a number marked "Unknown" (i.e. it literally just says unknown and no number shows up).

I know some medical schools give interview invites over the phone so out of paranoid/wishful thinking, I'm starting to wonder if some admissions offices for whatever reason show up as "Unknown" on my phone.

Has anyone out there gotten a call from "Unknown" that turned out to be a med school?

Look on the school specific threads for where you applied and see how the other applicants received their II's....

I had an interview invite that came up as an out of the country phone number and turned out to be a number from my hometown (something got messed up with the area code) but definitely always answer!
Which is super fun considering it's election season :annoyed:

I'm pretty sure the Man upstairs is playing a joke on me because I got an unknown phone call today from Birmingham, Alabama, and it ended up being a radio station when I called the number back after missing the call. I applied to UAB and thought it was an interview. FWIW, I live no where near Birmingham and have never called a radio station in my life lol

Well shoot, are you telling me that numbers I assumed to be :spam: could have been adcom members? :smack:
Yes, which is why you should answer your phone

Spammers and telemarketers are elated by this news.

Soooo many bill collectors have been able to finally get in touch with me now :/

Definitely possible, especially if a faculty member is calling from their office in a hospital.

Provided their voicemail box isn't full, wouldn't most admissions offices leave a message? It seems like every time I answer a call from an unknown number it's some variation of let us replace your auto glass, you're in collections (not really) verify your ssn and CC#, congrats you've won a free night in vegas, etc. Yet these people never leave messages if I don't answer.

Yeah I had a DO invite as unknown. Didn't leave a voicemail either. Didn't find out until the same number called at the same time and I happened to pick up
