Do all of my ERAS letters need to be from FM doctors?

I've already got a couple of nice FM docs to write me letters for residency. I need at least one more letter to speak to my clinical acumen- would it matter if that letter happened to be from, say, an internist or med-peds doctor who liked me and offered to write me one?

I'm not dual-applying, and I don't want to give programs that impression. Just curious if I'm overthinking this or not.

Also I don't think @NotAProgDirector is an FM doc but hope you don't mind me atting you since you always seem to give helpful advice on residency matters as well 🙂

You are over thinking. I actually applied surgery and had non-surgeons letters. Ended up scrambling into FP in the end and used the same letters. As long as the majority are in what you are applying to.

Doesn't need to. Just make sure the internist/meds-peds mentions your interest in FM. It was only a problem when there were 0 letters from FM, and none of them spoke to the applicant's interest in FM, so I presumed they were dual applying.
