Does anyone know if it would be a problem if I apply at both DO and MD schools at the same time. Would that hurt my chances of getting into either one?

Everyone does this. It is not a problem at all. In fact it is a shame that AACOMAS and AMCAS are not combined.

i don't think makes a difference. i openly discussed applying to allopathic schools at my nycom interview. most people will understand that your end goal in the process is to find a program that's a good fit for you and not penalize you for applying to both

No problem at all. Make sure you have a good answer if they ask you about it.

I applied to both kinds and ended up with one acceptance each (1 MD and 1 DO). None of the schools had a problem with it, and it came up at several interviews. When I interviewed at MD schools and told them, they just said it is all the same anyway. Same deal when I interviewed DO and told them I had interviewed at MD schools. It really IS the same thing, and doctors on both sides know. You really don't need to explain yourself for applying to both kinds.
