Hello there guys

So I just read about DO school a week ago and noticed we need to shadow DO doctors before applying

I was wondering if anyone can give me some places to look for doctors that allow shadowing. Frankly, i have thought about it and still have no idea how to.
I emailed the DO Canadian site to ask and they didnt reponsd at all 🙁

TIA

The phonebook and Google are probably the best resources if you don't have any direct access to a DO through friends/family. From experience, I wouldn't bother with e-mail.

True dat homes. Sitting around thinking about it all day isn't going to help. Another thing you might want to think about is your list of preferred providers from your insurance company. There's gotta be a DO in there.

phew
JUST finished my MCAT - hard stuff.

Um thing is
I can cold call clinics but there no way to find out if they are DO or not in the yellowbook here..
most aren't

I just found a teaching hospital that has strong ties with the osteopathic sommunity and with OU-HCOM, which is where I would like to attend. I then when to the hospital website and looked under the medical education area where I found contact information for a resident program administrator. I emailed her and told her I was an undergraduate student looking for shadowing hours. I also let her know that I was very interested in pursuing osteopathic medicine at OU-HCOM. She got back to me very quickly wanting to set up a day for me to come in and go on rounds and view a surgery.
I would recommend trying this route. I tried this because I do not have any family ties to a doctor or any other connections that would have allowed to shadow. Plus, this way, I am ensured of shadowing a DO which could land me a nice letter.
