DO and the Common Program Requirement

WIth the new Common Program Requirement making it exceedingly difficult for AOA-trained ophtho residents, how will this affect their acceptance into fellowships?

It's my understanding that ophtho fellowships are not recognized as ACGME subspecialties, so does this change anything?
