that you send your letters of recommendation (or committee letter) through AADSAS? Or would it be okay if they were sent directly to the school--I'm trying to bypass AADSAS but I want to make sure the following schools do not require that you go through AADSAS: BU, Tufts, Harvard, UPenn, Columbia, and UConn. Thanks!!

Columbia Dental school website: http://dental.columbia.edu/education/app_proc.html

Harvard Dental website: http://www.hsdm.harvard.edu/asp-html/prospective.html

BU website: http://dentalschool.bu.edu/bulletin/Bulletin-DMD.html

Tufts Dental: http://www.tufts.edu/dental/student_admissions/dmd.html

UPENN website: http://www.dental.upenn.edu/academic/DMDprogram/dmd-admit-apply.html

UCONN website: http://sdm.uchc.edu/predoctoral/index.shtml

According to the websites it appears they all require you to apply through AADSAS, with the exception of UPENN which wasn't clear wether you could do it the other way. I misunderstood your question, sending your LOR's directly to the schools was never a problem for me.

I applied to all those schools except Harvard and i had no complaints from them about direct mailing of the letters of rec.

dont send any letters through aadsas. some schools say they "prefer" them through aadsas but then you risk putting your application on delay if aadsas messes up, but i dont think any require them going through aadsas.

You should be fine submitting them directly to most schools. I would also like to add that if you do so be sure that your recommendor refers to you by your full name and also includes some identifying information within the body of the letter, such as you AADSAS application number, last four digits of your social security number, etc. Doing so will ensure that the school will place your LOR into your file as opposed to someone else's (it happens a lot more than what you might tend to believe).
