Planning to apply early and broadly to DO schools (25+). Open to MD as well but I’m realistic that my GPA would be pretty lethal to most schools. Any chance at low-tier MD schools or is it not even worth it? Which schools should I definitely have on my list? Let me know if you guys need any other information.

Thanks so much in advance for your help! I appreciate you!

Can you give us a breakdown of your GPA? By that I mean:

1) cGPA and sGPA after undergrad
2) just post-bacc GPA alone.

What do you mean by all other GPA?

If you apply broadly and early with your stats you have a good shot at a newer school.

Definitely have these newer schools on your list:

BCOM
ACOM
MUCOM
CUSOM

After that, I would research schools' gpa cutoffs. Make sure you don't apply to any schools you might get automatically rejected from (to save you some money.)

I think you will have a decent shot... You have a respectable MCAT and have all of the "boxes" for an application checked off. Make sure you write strong essays and I think you may get some interviews.

by "all other GPA" I mean everything non-science/math.

I only took 1 post-bacc class and I got an A+ so my postbacc GPA is a 4.0

thanks everyone for your replies!

Don't waste money on low-tier MD applications. Your stats don't make the cut.

Applying to 25+ osteopathic schools is very expensive and time-consuming, and your GPA might cause you to not get accepted anywhere.

Instead of applying this cycle, would you consider spending a year taking more post-bacc/graduate courses and getting A's? It'd boost your GPA slightly, and it'd add some new data points to your upward trend.

If OP applies broadly to DO schools, especially the newest ones, OP'S chances will be very good.

But skip CCOM, AZCOM, and the coastal Touros.

you're 100% getting into DO's
my mcat was worlds worse than yours (27, then a 499 after retake), my gpa's were pretty much the same, and i got 6 interview invites still. everyone (including goro lol) told me i had no shot and need to take another gap year, but i pushed through & i'll be attending acom in july 🙂 so trust me when i say youre fine!

If you'll pardon my asking, were you a URM applicant?

What's the reason for skipping those?

I see. Would a 507 at these schools be more competitive? I'm applying to CCOM and AZCOM so I'm curious if that's "good enough"

Only the schools' admissions committees can ultimately decide if your stats are good enough... but a 507 isn't going to automatically disqualify you. In fact, it's slightly above the average MCATs at AZCOM and CCOM.
