since my retake is late december most of the schools are saying a lot of the seats will be filled up. what are the chances of that really be true?

I think a majority of the seats will be filled at most schools, but each school is different. I know some schools offer enough acceptance to fill their class on Dec. 1 and others will offer only a fraction of their seats on Dec 1.

Low. Seriously, getting into dental school is more competitive than it has been in ages. Contrary to what the average SDNer seems to think, dental schools aren't panicking that they won't be able to fill their seats. They aren't going to completely ignore half of their applicants in a desperate attempt to fill their class on December 1st.

lower, not impossible. Some schools, as stated, fill seats by then, but even those schools end up having overlap with other schools. As people drop out, waitlisted people get added on. If your DATs and other application information makes you a highly sought after candidate, you will be high on the waitlist at some of those schools and probably get in as people drop. Otherwise, as stated, chances are getting pretty low by that time.

No, although invites may be sent out for a lot of the seats. People don't always accept invites and often they temporarily accept them. Schools work on filling their seats often until a few days before matriculation. Our class had several people accepted over the summer, including one accepted in August a few days before classes began.

NYU has a lot of seats, I'm sure you could at least get in there if you retook it in december....maybe not, I'm probably wrong....but I'd like to think so.

From what I am seeing on predents, and from what I understand so far. I think Nova is already pretty much booked with interviews. I am probably just being pessimistic since I havent heard back from them, but it seems that if you didnt get an invite by now, then chances are really low that you will get one later.

I hope I am wrong. I know Nova usually just rejects you right away if they arent interested (like they did to me last year), but so far I havent heard back. So either my rejection is coming very soon, or they are thinking about interviewing me somehow, but are waiting for more qualified applicants.

I am just guessing here.
