Do DO's get paid less?

**Edit: Just remember that the docs that accept cash for it usually do it because the reimbursement standard paid by the company does not cover their time to do OMT.

both of you are correct.....I was unclear in my quick ass post.
all PHYSICIANS are paid the same...some DO's can use OMT as a side business or a total business and can get cash for it. I have even heard of some insurances covering small bits too. Anyway, all the DO's I shadowed didn't use OMT so all their payments were the same....sorry for the ambiguity.

The DO that wrote my LOR letter charges $130 per visit for his OMT services.

Great question! Acutally the peanuts are consumed by folks who frequent bars, who buy unshelled peanuts, or even shelled peanuts! We have a massive crew of immigrants who dig endlessly through garbage cans throughout the US just scrounging for every last peanut shell they can get their hands on...it is in this way that we recruit even more DO's. As these peanut shell hunters actually become "physicians" later on!
We also have contracts with every country bar and hillbilly steak house in the US that uses peanut shells as a sort of natural carpeting on their floors. We also lobby against the use of sawdust which can also serve as a natural carpeting.

MDs and DOs are paid the same when practicing in the same field. However, because most MDs choose to specialize, in general, they do make more (i.e. surgeon's salary vs internal medicine doc's salary are quite different).
Say what you will above poster. All I know is that peanut boats are at an all time high.

2 Reasons ( i have nothing to back this).
1. Imagine two FM or IM docs. DO can do OMT as an extra procedure where MD cannot.
2. Many people dont know what a DO is. So they would be less likely to be sued because these same people wont see DO's as money bags where they would if they went to an MD. Thus lower Malpractice.
Crazy rationalizations but they make sense to me. In some cases a DO can make more then MDs.
