I know there might be a topic related to this question already but my question is a little specific. I have heard that if you go early, you can start earlier than other people. But then if I start earlier than people, I will have my breaks earlier and when I come back to the testing room to take the exam, other people will be going out and in while I'm testing and giving me distractions. How does that thing work out?

Yeah if you get there early you can start early, I got there around 7 and the guy let me start at 7:30. No matter what time you're going to start, people around you are going to be finishing at different times because there are people taking tests different than the MCAT, people who are starting early or late, you could be finishing different sections earlier or later than others, and the workers sometimes move about the room as well. At some point and time people are going to be walking around you in the exam. If you're wearing earphones, after the first few times it happens, you're barely going to notice it anymore imo. It just become a part of the testing environment after you become acclimated.

I got there at 7:10, started at 7:35... I didn't notice anyone moving around... in my room, everyone had dividers/booths between each other, which is really nice. Also, they put me towards the back of the room, I think they fill it up based on who gets there first, so if you want to sit towards the back, go early, and you won't have many people passing by you.

Great ! I hope they dont really make me sit in the front. But isn't each one assigned a computer prior to testing any ways? So me being early or late don't matter since I have an assigned computer for me.

Mmm it most likely depends on your center and how the room is arranged. My room was very narrow with everyone facing a wall, an aisle in between two rows, if that makes sense.. The 1-2 people who got there before me were further back in the room..it seemed like they were filling up the room based on who got there first. After you sign in, it takes about 20 mins for them to assign a computer. I also noticed when I was going into the room, there were about 20-25 people anxiously sitting in the waiting area (to be called in to their assigned computer to start the test).. so if anything, showing up early will prevent you having to sit amongst a bunch of nervous people.. be sure to wake up a little extra early too, so your brain is more alert at 730 vs 8am. Hope that helps & g'luck.

Just remember, other test takers are nervous and a little stressed out, maybe the same as you, maybe moreso. They don't want to do anything to bother you, they only want to keep to themselves and to do the best that they can on the MCAT and move on. If they somehow make too much noise and distract you, it was only an accident and they didn't mean to. So, don't let anything distract you from your goal at hand. Stay focussed and stay sharp. Remember my words.

Thank you !! That was truly helpful! I will go there at least an hour early even though my test is at 1 pm. I like mornings better but had no option.

Yea I know nobody is coming to make distractions but I would rather avoid the risk of having it and I wouldn't want to be near the door in case outside people make noise. I will definitely remember your words buddy. Thanks 🙂
