Hi I have a question regarding grade replacement. There is one situation where I couldn't find in the manual.

If I took OCHEM A (of a 3 class series A,B,C) at a university, lecture and lab separately, (4 quarter units and 1.5 quarter units, respectively). If I retake OCHEM A at a community college (of a 2 class series A,B) and it is worth 5 units (lab and lecture combined). Do I replace it for the LECTURE only? or how does it work? is it okay to have the old lab grade and then the new one?

Thanks!

Curious, because I have no experience in the quarter unit system but does this mean that your old OChem course is a total of 5.5 credits compared to 5 credits at the community college? Are they equivalent? I was always under the impression that you would have to retake a course that is equal to or greater in credits to replace it. The unfortunate thing about this situation that is I think it would be hard to find an OChem course that isnt 5 credits (least im under the impression that they are typically at max 5 credits at most universities). Grade replacement will compensate for combined courses and split courses. For instance I retook physics as a 4 credit course which was previously a 1 credit lab + 3 credit lecture so that might help answer your question.

The best bet is to give AACOMAS a personalized call and discuss this with them if no one else steps up on the forums. The worst thing you can do is retake a course and not get the replacement factored into your GPA. adcoms would see it though at least.

use the search function because i remember a recent thread about this and it's possible they will only replace a course if it is the same # of hours

5.5 of quarter units is less than the 5 semester unit.

I think I got the answer. The semester lecture will replace the quarter lecture only.
