do grades matter when applying for residency? or do they just look at the step scores and whered you graduated from?

The most important factors are Step 1/2 scores and LOR.
Grades are a factor but they are secondary due to that fact that step scores are a reflection of the knowledge you gained in BS and Clinicals, so grades become superfluous once you score gets high enough.

How exactly do people like you apply to medical school without knowing basic information about medical school?
Step 1 - after basic sciences
Step 2 - before graduation, often in the 4th year (as it is a requirement for graduation and residency)

How exactly do you think we learn? BY ASKING. You probably knew the answer to every single question in the world when you were born, so you never had to ask anyone a single question in your life huh? Oh and btw I wouldn't want to be your patient, cause if I were to ask you a simple question, you'd give me a rude and sarcastic remark, like how to do with mostly every post here on SDN (as I have noticed) and over at valuemd. This world is full of obnoxious doctors and professionals concerned with wealth, power, fame, and fortune, without the slightest hint of selflessness. And you are one of them.

Patients ask doctor questions because doctors are authoritative sources of medical information. Big difference, but I would not expect your mind to deal with that without first asking your mom if it is okay for you to think on your own.
Just make it through MERP before you try to judge what would make a good doctor, sweetheart.
