Alright guys, I am wondering what to do, and starting to get worried. Heres my dilemma..
In 2005 I started my first semester of college and totally screwed up. I later took 2 years off to find out what to do with my life, and I found that medicine is what I want to do. Since 2009, I transfered schools, and since have been doing fairly well. Heres my stats....

College A-
sGPA-2.00
cumGPA-2.23

College B-
sGPA-3.43
cumGPA-3.61

AACOMAS grand total-
sGPA-3.30
cumGPA-3.40

I guess my question is, does the upward trend in gpa look good for potential schools? I have yet to take the MCAT, but am planning on taking it in May sometime (review course starts in January) I guess is there any hope for me? My EC's aren't bad, but they are not anything amazing....I have shadowed a few docs and some podiatrists and lately I have just been worried. What do you guys think, or should I stick to pod? I know I could be happy as a pod, but I feel that a DO degree would be a better decision, and its what I really want.

Yes, you have a perfectly good chance. Continue to do well in your classes, get a 25+ on the MCAT and you're sitting pretty.

Did you take into consideration grade replacement for your total GPA? Bad grades are replaced if you retake that class.

Yes that is with grade replacement...it just looks low..the first year killed me..blah oh well. Any suggestions on schools I could have a chance with with my GPA? I know its hard to tell with out an MCAT score yet, but still what do you think?

There are several DO schools opening in the next few years.

ACOM, VCOM - Auburn, Marion, few others. (VCOM Auburn isn't until 2015 so that may be too late for you, but regular VCOM is a good one anyway)

Newly opened DO schools usually have classes on the low side, be on the watch for these new schools as your app season approaches and be sure to apply to them. Also, places in your area will probably have a regional bias. There was a thread in the Osteopath forum the other day with average GPA and MCAT for every single DO school, check it out. Just apply broadly and to the DOs on the mid to lower side. From what I have seen, DOs love people who mess up and then straigthen things out and go for their dream- which is you- so if you can write a decent PS you will be fine. Just keep on persevering!

Thank you for your encouraging words and advice! Much appreciated. 🙂

You got dis, playa.

a high mcat makes up for a high gpa.. so work hard
