I test 2/13, and am wondering if I should apply to The Valley COM, or one of the schools that just got approved recently. My recent practice scores are (502/508/518/512/FL5). I ultimately want to utilize the HPSP scholarship, however Pre-accreditted schools aren't approved. Is it worth applying now in hopes to start a year early, and forgoe the hopes of the military? Also what is the likelihood I could potentially get in? My stats are:
3.73cGPA
3.54sGPA
3000+ clincal hours (various fields: Peds/ED/OR/FM/CT tech)
~1000 volunteer hours at an addiction recovery clinic
2000+ hours working at a funeral home (I deal with all the removals and assist in embalmings)

Wait a few months and apply in May

Thank you so much for the advice! I come from a very rural background, and really like the mission statements for some of the DO schools. Should I only apply to only DO, or is there a slight chance of me recieving a MD interview? I know it is hard to say still with my MCAT being uncertain.

At this stage in the current cycle, you're not getting a MD interview. If you apply next cycle though, in my humble opinion, if your MCAT is >508, then apply MD & DO and expect both MD & DO interviews, especially those who like rural. If its below 508 and above 502, then DO only + in-state MDs. If it's below 502, retake. If you get above a 515 or up, then go full MD. Good luck with your MCAT

I cannot recommend brand new schools. Overall it's getting late in the deal cycle, but brand new schools will take you as long as you can write a tuition check.

Apply when you are 100% ready to apply.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take both of y'alls and apply in May! Do you recommend applying early decision to VCOM with my stats? I really like the one thats in my state, however i'm nervous of going all in with my lower GPA. The past 4 semesters I recieved a 4.0 if that helps. Basically to paraphrase, do you think it's worth for me to go all in on ED for VCOM, and what would be the parameters for my predicted MCAT that would be a good chance at getting the A.

That's an impossible question to answer without an MCAT score, but you should try for at least 5:05 5:10 would be far better
