It sounds like you have a pretty good chance at allopathic schools.
You should get accepted in your first cycle as long as you choose your schools wisely, take time on your secondaries, and interview well! Don't worry and continue what you are doing with your ECs. By the way, isn't a 3.5 pretty good for an engineering major???? I am sure some schools will take that into account.

Good luck!!!!!

I don't think my gpa can go that much higher, I'm trying but engineering has forced me to take some harder sciences...ie: Calculus based physics, P-chem, Thermodynamics...I hope that the fact that I'm an engineer will be noticed.

As for schools, I'm applying to both of my instates, and a lot of privates , probably like 20 some schools. I'm applying indiscriminately, as long as I think I have a competitive chance.

How are my EC's? I think being an athlete will help, should I mention intermurals?

I'm also planning on submitting my apps on June 1st to get as much exposure as possible. Is this a big advantage?

As for LOR's I have Bio professor who I did research with, A vector calculus professor, 2 dr's I researched with and the volunteer director at the hospice I worked at. Should I ask my advisor? We have a pretty good relationship, or is that too general? Do I need to get any more idealy?

If I got more LOR's would I want more professors, or would more doctors I shadowed with be ok?

Thanks for everyones advice keep it coming, I appreciate it.

Haha. Boy if that were true I'd be really, really happy. I managed a 3.5 with dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics, but the general consensus seems to be that higher is better, no matter what.

I've even read on here something to the effect of "3.8 in Communications > 3.5 in Engineering/Physics/Bio etc"

Engineers kind of hurt themselves that way...But it's always better to do something you enjoy, and have a good major to fall back on!

1) They look good, except you didn't comment on months and hours of clinical experience and shadowing so as to permit comment on adequacy. The pubs are golden.

2) Mention everything. Intramurals would go under Hobbies. Was the biking ntercollegiate? If so, there is a special categoty for that.

3) Yes. Short verification time. Top of the pile for consideration when the most interview spots are open.

4) Ideally, you would have two science profs who taught you and can comment on academic ability, one nonscience prof, and a PI.
