Hi Everyone,

I am going into my senior year of college and plan to apply next cycle. I was just looking for some feedback on if I have a shot at some MD schools, and if so some possible good matches with my numbers.

I am from New York and would like to stay in state if possible. Definitely open to the east coast, PA, Ohio, etc. Would rather not start looking too far west unless thats my only option.

Biology/Psychology Major, Natural Sciences Minor
Dean's List 4/5 Semesters
cGPA=3.6 and trending upward; sGPA=3.6 and trending upward
MCAT: 27 (9/9/9)

EC's:
Member of Volunteer Fire Department
-Firefighter/EMT since 2011
-Lieutenant, Rescue Company since 2014

Medical Scribe since 2013
-Work part time (~25 hours/week)

Peer and Student-Athlete Tutor in 2013
-Tutored many different Bio, orgo, psych courses

Shock Trauma (Baltimore, MD) Volunteer
-Beginning in September for the full school year, about 10 hours/week

Pre-Health Society at University
-Member since 2012
-Appointed as Vice-President in 2013

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories
-200 hours as a lab assistant

Shadowing
-80 hours of shadowing in the OR

Honors Society
-Tri-Beta Honors Society, Biology Honors Society
-Psi-Chi Honors Society, Psychology Honors Society

During my year off I am going to continue as Lieutenant of the Rescue Co. in my Fire Department as well as continue to work as a scribe.

ECs are competitive. GPA is ok. MCAT is not competitive. Unless you are URM your chances aren't great. Maybe at low-tier and new MD schools.

I actually haven't taken the MCAT yet, I will be taking it Sept 4th. I just put my lowest score down that I have gotten so far as a worst case scenario. I am anticipating a 30+/- 1. If I can pull it up to a 30 would that do much?
