I have plenty of extracirriculars and a 3.7 gpa, but my MCAT series was a 20(5V, 7P, 8B). I already submitted my AMCAS and some secondaries. Should I just wait for my rejection letters or should I fax the schools letters telling them I am not going to apply?

Wait and see what they have to say. Don't take yourself out of the game prematurely. You might be surprised. Good luck.

Right, see what happens this year and if things don't go your way, you can retake the mcats and reapply. But you never know what will happen this year.

A 20 is relatively low, but I wouldn't be quick to judge your application a complete waste. It also depends on how strong the rest of your application is. Start prepping for the April MCAT, and see how things unfold for the schools you sent secondaries to. What schools did you apply to and complete secondaries for? It's unwise and unrealistic if you sent in secondaries to only top-notch schools and at the same time expect good news. that's simply my opinion.

I recommend you to get geared into preparing for April MCAT next year. I do not say you should give up hope, but since it is a slim chance to get admission, it might be better that you assume you have been rejected and study like hell for MCAT. If it turns out you get interviews, then that would be even better. But don't waste your time pondering that you might not be taking April MCAT. Verbal section in particular may require relatively long period of time to see significant improvement.
One year is nothing compared to your entire life, so do not be too hasty and invest your time wisely. Good luck.

One second might not be nothing at most of the time compared to your entire life.

ONE YEAR, however, is definitely SOMETHING compared to your life. How long is one's life anyway? 70 years? You think 1/70 is really nothing? How about nothing + nothing = still nothing? Nothing X 70 = still still nothing?

Probably not.

So you are saying nothing is nothing or that nothing is not nothing? anyways, i dont think one year now will make a difference later in life.

I mis-put a "not" b/t my sentense... LOL
I was saying,

One second might be nothing

NOT saying

One second might NOT be nothing.

SOrry

😳

Read the post about low MCAT stories. It will provide some hope. I wish you the very best of luck. Remember the MCAT is not everything!

While you might have some chance, I don't think it's very good. People here are being nice, but it's also giving false hope. A 20 is very low. I don't think you should waste your money this time around flying around the country doing interviews... or even shelling out 50 bucks for a secondary. Take the test over and then apply.

Sorry, I re-read your post and you mentioned that you already applied. I guess the best thing to do is just wait and see what happens. I hope I read a little better on the verbal section of the MCAT... 😉
