Hi everyone.

I've lurked here for awhile but I thought I would finally come out and ask. I've seen you guys flame many people for asking these questions, but I really seriously need some advice about whether I should look towards med school or not. I've done about 40 credits so far, my cumulative gpa is 3.44 and my science/math is 3.92....obviously I'm not worried about the sci/math gpa, but do you think my cumulative gpa is competitive enough? Or should I wait until I'm further along to decide? I have a c- in a stupid english lit class, but my other 2 eng classes I did well in and I got a C+ in a geography class. Otherwise my record is decent.

Just wondering if I should bother or not,

Thanks!!
By the way, this forum rocks!

you need to improve your overall gpa. does your school not offer easy humanities courses?

You are relatively at the beginning of your education. You may want to consider taking any classes over that you scored less than a solid C in. That being said, I hear upward trends mean a lot. If you can pull the 3.92 in all of you classes for the remainder of your undergrad career and get a good MCAT score, I wouldn't see why you coudln't get in. 3.44 isn't that bad. Note: you may not be able to get into Harvard, but your chances of getting in somewhere if you work on your GPA would probably be good.

Seriously, if you want to dedicate your life to being in the medical profession--start working for it now. If it is something that you really truely want, you should not consider giving up this easily. Good luck. 🙂
