I'm not sure if I want to go to Osteopathic school or not.. however, if I do decide to apply, I'm wondering if I have to take any classes over due to my very ugly transcript early on in my academic career.

GPA (Undergrad 2.8 - B.S Kinesiology)
The first 3 semesters I did not care, I was an 18-19 year old male whose priorities were everything but class.
Managed to improve significantly over the course of the last 5 semesters.
Here's the very dark side of the transcript from undergraduate
-All elective classes -
Geo (3 credits) - C-
Geo lab (1 credit) C-
Mil. Sci (1 credit) C+
Social Problems (3 credits) - C
Economics (3 credits) - C
Wellness (2 credits) - C+
Accounting (3 credits) - D
Theater Design (3 credits) - D+
American Society (3 credits) - C-
3 Withdrawls on transcript
-Major-
Exercise Physiology (4 credits) - C+ (took over at graduate level and got a B)
Biomechanics (3 credits) - C+

Overall GPA - Graduate (M.S. Exercise Physiology)
3.4
Only negative received a C in Diagnosing and medical management of CHD

A couple years later (Post Bach)
Physics 1 - B
Physics 2 - A
General Bio - A
Micro Bio - A
Genetics - A
Biochemistry - A
General Psych - A
Social Psych - A
Abnormal Psych - A
Developmental Psych -A
Personality - A
EMT Training Course - A
American History - A
Inro to Visual Art - A
Gen Chem 1 -A
Gen Chem 2 - A
Organic 1 - A
Organic 2 - A

-Overall GPA now 3.3 Science GPA 3.35
-Conduct research in a major research hospital
-MCAT - 28
Should I retake the two classes I received a D in and any of the C's from long ago?
Thank You for the help!

I think you should have a good chance for DO and possibly even your state schools.

I think your good to go! You finished very strong and have a good MCAT. Hurry though. Time is running out. Good luck. 👍

you've got a shot-apply now though

the upward trend is HUGE for you... the low GPA is going to come up and raise some eyebrows, but nothing you can't get through with a simple explanation.

I'd say retake the C and D classes. It isn't so bad getting those grades if you can show you took the time to improve and really do care. Make sure your extra-curriculars are strong. Do some non-hospital volunteering too. Sometimes only doing hospital volunteering may lead them to believe you are doing it to meet some pre-req. I did a lot of ESL teaching in the Latino community and it showed my genuine interest in underserved communties. I just had two interviews this week and found out today I got in to KCOM. So from whatever experience that means I have, I give you this advice 🙂
You got your GPA up. No one is perfect and the fact that you did so well on your classes post-bach shows that you did get serious about it. Make sure you shadow some DOs and get good letters from them. I think you'll be just fine. Make your non-score/GPA application really strong. Good luck!

You'll be fine. Apply to as many schools as you can. I don't think you need to retake anything.

Just out of curiosity, what colleg are you attending? Undergrad I mean.....I only ask because I am an Exercise Science major inthe kinesiology department at my school and I was wondering what other schools have this major. Allot of undergrad institution I know of don't have it especially in Ohio.

Cool.....can't say I know where that is. But it's nice to see more school starting to carry this major which is an awesome alternative to bio major.

In response to your question.....I'd say your science gpa looks pretty good, It certainly wouldn't hurt to apply. If you don't get in, retake some classes and raise your accumulative and re-apply.

Don't bother re-taking anything....please.

Get some good letters of Rec and apply broadly...you've got a good shot.

It is in Williamsburg, VA.. some other schools that I know carry the major are West Chester Univ. of PA, East Stroudsburg Univ. of PA, Columbia Univ., NC State, and Wake Forest, amongst others..
