Hello everyone!

I am going to be a senior next year, and I am considering various BS/MD programs (UMKC, NEUCOM, Siena/Albany, CPiM, etc.).

The following is my current resume:

EC's:
Volunteer at 2 hospitals, public library and a museum (1100+ total hours, 300 at each hospital and museum), and I received the President's Volunteer Service Award

1st place at the state science fair competition and 1st place for district.

I play the piano (11+ years) and won 1st place at the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest (and other awards).

I also am a 3rd degree blackbelt and instructor at my Taekwondo center, having won 1st place for sparring and forms a while back (10+ years).

My test scores:
SAT - 1990 (I'm retaking in October)
ACT composite - 30
AP Chem - 3
AP World History - 3
AP US History - 4
AP English Alng/Comp - 4

I also work at a Kumon Math&Reading Center as an Instruction Assistant (since May 2008).

Education:
UW GPA: 3.6
W GPA: 4.3
Class Rank: 18/202

Clubs:
NHS
NSHSS
American Red Cross
National Beta Club

I also recently shadowed an anesthesiologist, a pediatrician and an orthodontist through the hospitals I volunteer at.

Do I have a chance for the BS/MD programs? (I know that they are quite competitive, so I don't know).

Thank you all in advance!

Great EC, they will like the hospital experience as long as it was not filing papers, simply pushing around patients, or folding towels. Really try to bring up that SAT, most schools have an invisible or visible cut at 1400 and 32 ACT. GPA is slightly low as well as class rank, but if your experience is solid it can make up for it but you have to write an incredible essay. Then knock them dead in the interview.

Give it a shot, even if you don't make it, it gives you great experience for apply to medical schools when your in college

bs/md is highly overrated.

I see no help in this post. Maybe explain how they're overrated?

I'm in a bs/md program and I absolutely love it.

Overrated because you have a guaranteed spot in medical school and (for myself) a full ride throughout undergrad?

Yeah, real overrated.
